2008 Fall Spiritual Formation Retreat

October 23-26, 2008

“Spiritual Leadership”

For clergy and committed lay leaders who wish to engage more seriously their own spiritual journey and be empowered to assist others on theirs.

What is spiritual leadership? What are the characteristics of an effective spiritual leader? How does the Holy Spirit empower spiritual leaders? What kinds of disciplines undergird the practice of spiritual leadership? These questions and others will be explored in a lecture/discussion format during this course. Participants will have time to reflect on their own leadership settings and be encouraged to write a Rule of Life for themselves which can help them be better spiritual leaders. This course will be widely focused and helpful to persons growing into spiritual leadership both within and outside church settings.

Co-sponsored by Columbia Theological Seminary’s Spiritual Formation Program and Montreat Conference Center; partially funded by the Evelyn Green Endowment for Christian Discipleship.
