“Maximizing Your Marriage Potential”

Come join us for a spring weekend in Montreat where the focus will be on “Maximizing Your Marriage Potential.” We believe that marriage is a gift from God and we invite you to nurture and celebrate that gift! In this Retreat from the distractions of everyday life and in the company of others with the same goal, you and your spouse will have opportunity to enjoy each other, assess your marriage potential, strengthen communication and conflict management skills, worship and dream for your future. The weekend’s design will offer education, time for individual couple work, times for sharing and learning with other couples and of course, time for exploration and recreation in this mountain community.

Key Leadership

John and Elizabeth Hartman live in Greenville, South Carolina but spend as much time as possible in Montreat! They are longtime advocates of Marriage Enrichment Retreats which over the years have been important in the nurturing of their own marriage. The Hartmans met while John was a student at Union Seminary and Elizabeth at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education. They have served Presbyterian Churches in Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia – John as an ordained Presbyterian minister and Elizabeth as a Christian Educator and elder. Today, John lives out his call to ministry as Director of Pastoral Care and CPE supervisor for the Greenville Hospital System while Elizabeth is a licensed professional counselor whose experience includes couple and family counseling. They have three sons, Blair (27), Charlie (25) and Gordon (16) and a great dog Dixie.

  • You may check into your housing facility after 3:00 pm
  • 4:00-5:30 pm – Conference Registration in Assembly Inn Lobby (After 5:30, pick up registration packet at Assembly Inn front desk)
  • 5:30-6:30 pm – Dinner Break
  • 7:00-9:00 pm – Evening Session

Saturday, April 2, 2011

  • 9:00-10:30 am – Morning Session
  • 10:30-11:00 am – Break
  • 11:00-12:00 noon – Morning Session (continued)

Registration & Accommodations

Comprehensive Rate (program, housing, and meals)

Comprehensive rate below includes a discounted conference fee of $125, room in Assembly Inn (Friday & Saturday nights), meals in the Galax Dining Room (Friday supper through Sunday breakfast), plus a $2 community services fee per person. After February 18, this rate will increase by $25 per couple.

Commuter Rate (program only)

Rate below includes conference fee of $175 plus a $2 community services fee per person. After February 18, this rate will increase by $25 per couple. Optional meal packages for the Galax Dining Room may be purchased when you register online or at the front desk of Assembly Inn.

  • $179 per couple

Refund Policy

Cancellations must be received by February 18 in order to receive a full refund less a $25 service charge. Cancellations received after February 18 but on or before March 25 will receive a 50% refund of the conference fee and payments made toward room and meal charges (if applicable) less $40. No refunds will be issued after March 25. All requests must be in writing and received via email, fax, or U.S. mail.
