Ready for a dip in the Montreat swimming pool

Activities for All Ages

Montreat Conference Center offers a variety of outdoor recreation including tennis, softball, the Robert Lake Park playground for children, fishing, miles of hiking and walking trails, as well as indoor basketball and volleyball. During the summer months, visitors enjoy the Friday Night Barn Dances, an outdoor Olympic-sized pool, canoes and paddle boats on Lake Susan, rock-hopping in an icy stream, and a variety of arts and crafts programs at the Currie Craft Center and Sally Jones Pottery.

‘Clubs’ is a summer day camp program for children in kindergarten through high school. Child care provides quality care for children ages six months through 5 years. As a parent or grandparent, you can relax and enjoy your summer conference experience knowing your children are having a great time, too, under the supervision of an experienced, caring staff.

The summer worship series at Montreat Conference Center features some of the nation’s most respected preachers and regional musicians.

Huckleberry Cafe

The Galax Dining Room in Assembly Inn serves all meals during conferences, as well as Sunday Lunch following summer worship. The Huckleberry, a lakeside gathering place during summer conferences, is the place to go for light snacks, late night treats, and ice cream.

From the toothbrush you forgot to gifts and conference resources, the Shops at Montreat in the Moore Center overlooking Lake Susan have what you need. Montreat Books and Gifts is also online with a complete selection of books, gifts and conference CDs. Church employees receive 20% off website book orders. Find additional shopping options in nearby Black Mountain and Asheville.

Montreat Wilderness School

Wilderness School

Our Montreat Wilderness School is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience some of the natural sciences outside of the classroom, and also to strengthen their foundations of communication and teamwork. Our hands-on approach to learning allows students to have fun, be more active, and learn about our world—all at the same time.

Special Events

Jellies Marching in the 4th of July Parade

In addition to the many conferences offered each year, special activities and opportunities for involvement make each day at Montreat a great day! These events include Spring Planting Day for volunteers, Fourth of July Parade, and Thanksgiving Dinner at Assembly Inn. Both the annual Montreat Fund Patrons Banquet and Firefly Reception & Dinner honor donors who support the Conference Center’s mission and ministry.
