Church Relations

The Church Relations Program works to form, build, and strengthen relationships between the conference center and constituent churches and presbyteries.

Specifically, the Church Relations program:

  • keeps Montreat in continuous “conversation” about ways in which the conference center is serving and can serve the church and its people;
  • helps Montreat stay abreast of needs in the greater church which can be addressed and fulfilled through Montreat programming;
  • works with the Development office to educate congregations about the need for Church Partners and financial contributions that come from annual church mission budgets.

Programs & Activities Sponsored by Church Relations

Montreat Sundays
Host a Montreat Sunday at your church! Representatives from the Montreat staff and volunteer corps are available to visit your congregation to educate and update your members about the Montreat ministry. A Montreat Sunday could include:

  • A “Minute for Mission” from the pulpit
  • Bulletin inserts describing the needs of the ministry. You may download both pages here or you may request copies by emailing carolo[at]montreat.org.
  • Short presentations during the Sunday School hour
  • Display tables with brochures and other resources
  • Preaching opportunities from the Montreat staff

Montreat Bridges
This evolving program consists of volunteers from Synods and Presbyteries throughout the denomination who act as liaisons between Montreat and its constituencies. Individuals in the Montreat Bridges program work to promote conferences by attending Presbytery meetings on behalf of the conference center and giving “Minute for Mission” presentations in local churches.

Presbytery Executive Retreats
These informative retreats are hosted by Montreat Conference Center twice annually, in the spring and fall, for groups of Presbytery Executives who come to both learn more about the conference center and share the needs and concerns of their presbyteries.
