John Philip Newell will offer The School of Earth and Soul (formerly known as the School of Celtic Consciousness) at Montreat Conference Center this fall.

In 2016 John Philip Newell began a teaching initiative that is now called The School of Earth & Soul (formerly The School of Celtic Consciousness.) Its purpose is to reawaken awareness of the sacred in all things through the recovery of Celtic wisdom for today and to help translate this awareness into compassionate action and justice.

The School follows a three-year schedule of teaching in its annual retreats. Participants may join at any stage in the three years and attend Years 1, 2 and 3 at any of the Earth & Soul venues across the country.

Year 1: Celtic Wisdom for Today through the teachings of Pelagius, St Brigid, and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.

Registration Fee is $358

As a full participant for the North Carolina School of Earth and Soul at Montreat, you are invited
to attend  John Philip Newell’s day only event on October 18th at no additional charge.

Leadership

Program Format and Schedule

Our daily schedule will consist of prayer at the beginning and ending of each day, presentations by John Philip Newell, followed by meditative practices, silence, and sharing. Meals will be shared in common, and there will be free time to hike and rest as well as a party on the last evening to celebrate our time together.

The School generally begins in the early evening on the first day (around 5:00 pm) and concludes after lunch on the last day (around 1:00 pm). Registrants will receive a more detailed schedule and arrival information within three week of the beginning of the event.

Program Registration

The program fee for this event is $358 and includes Tuesday dinner, Wednesday lunch, and Wednesday dinner in the Assembly Inn's Galax Dining Room. Housing is available at the William Black Lodge; please check the Housing section for more information.

Cancellations must be received by September 7 in order to receive a full refund less a $25 service charge. Cancellations received after September 7, but on or before October 12 will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued after October 12. All requests must be in writing and received via email, fax, or U.S. mail.

Housing Reservations


Housing is available at the William Black Lodge. Full details on accommodations and how to make reservations can be found at www.williamblacklodge.org. A special rate package has been arranged for participants. Be sure to type "Celtic" when asked for a promo or discount code when registering online, or mention it if making arrangements by phone.
