Arts, Music & Theology Cohort

Eric Wall is the conference center musician at Montreat Conference Center, and leads worship through music each Sunday. In addition to his responsibilities at Montreat, Wall is associate professor of sacred music and dean of the chapel at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Much appreciated for his vast realm of musical genres, his creative vision, and his gift for drawing congregations of all ages and backgrounds into the celebration of music, Wall’s leadership is a major part of the Sunday summer worship series.
Ann Jones, Montreat Conference CenterThe Rev. Dr. Ann Laird Jones is director of arts ministry at Montreat Conference Center and loves the process of visual proclamation in the ongoing conversation between art and theology. She treasures the collaborative process between visual artist, musician, liturgist, and preacher which is central to worship at Montreat! She is a graduate of Eckerd College, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, where she earned her doctor of ministry degree in arts and theology, under the guidance of Catherine Kapikian. She is a teaching elder and member of St. Andrew Presbytery, and commutes between Greenville, MS, and Montreat, NC.
Hannah Garrity, Montreat Conference CenterHannah Garrity holds a bachelor of fine arts in painting from Cornell University, and a master of science in teaching from Pace University. Beginning with Teach for America in Brooklyn, NY, she is an elementary educator. She presently teaches art at Powhatan School in Boyce, VA. Inspired to God's ministry through art, Hannah joins the summer worship team as the summer liturgical artist.
Alec Peters, Montreat Conference CenterAlec Peters Alec Peters is a native of Tarboro, NC, and earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is an elder and choir member at West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, in Raleigh, NC. A retired lawyer, Alec, and his wife Sarah, who works at the Sally Jones Pottery during the summer months, are the parents of Walker and Lila. During the summer months, Alec serves on the Summer Sunday Worship Team, doing everything from co-writing liturgy to hanging banners. He first read The Lord of the Rings when he was around twelve years old, and he has lost count of how many times he has reread it since.
