PASSPORTkids

June 30–July 3, 2024SummerYouth
This event is presented by Passport Inc.

PASSPORTkids is a 4-day, 3-night children’s camp filled with fun faith-building programming and hands-on missions education. It is for students who have completed 3rd – 6th grade.

At camp, your students will discover God’s love and practice being followers of Jesus through an active schedule of Bible studies, missions education, recreation, and worship. As group leaders, you’ll be able to focus on engaging with your children without taking on the burden of planning and logistics.

What to Expect

Safe Structured Environment

The safety of your students is our staff’s number one priority throughout camp. Every session boasts a 1 to 5 adult to child ratio. PASSPORTkids promises a physically, spiritually, and emotionally safe environment for your children to learn and develop their Christian identity.

Hands-On Mission Education

Everyone, no matter the age, can be a part of God’s amazing work. Through interactive missions education, your children will learn and participate in what Gods people are doing around the world. Each year’s missional theme educates your kids about new places and people groups, with a focus on how to be a good neighbor globally and at home. At our hallmark party, Night Market, your children will ‘travel’ to a night bazaar and explore sights, sounds and tastes of the country that they have been learning about.

Developmentally Appropriate Programming Rooted In Scripture

PASSPORTkids is focused on creative discipleship in a way that meets your children where they are. Our team works year-round to create programming and activities designed for each developmental stage. Through hands-on activities and thoughtfully planned teachings, each of your children will be taught scripture within a framework designed for their optimal learning and development.

Intimate, Low-Pressure Experience Aimed at Equipping Children for a Lifetime of Faith

PASSPORTkids intentionally has created an intimate, grace-filled, low-pressure environment for your children to build their spiritual foundation. All of our messages are thoughtfully designed to bring the Bible to life and grow your children’s understanding of how much God loves them.

Mentorship and Pastoring By Young Christian Women & Men

Your children will have the opportunity to meet and learn from our diverse and incredible staff. PASSPORT employs called and committed Christian women and men for our summer teams. Encountering a relatable Christian role model can change a child’s life, encourage them as followers of Christ, and help them understand what lived-faith looks like.

Ability To Tailor Experience To Your Group’s Needs

If you have children who need special attention or accommodations, know that we are committed to making your camp experience accessible and valuable.

Event Descriptions

Check-In
Churches will complete their registration and get rooming assignments.

Opening Celebration
Campers will be introduced to the Camp Theme, the Passport Staff, and other fun information to prepare them for the week ahead.

Morning Celebration
Energy is key for this daily event! After 30 minutes of songs, laughter, announcements, and awards, campers are awake and ready to head off to Bible study with their new friends.

Bible Study
Churches will be separated into four Houses for the week. Your children will be divided into older and younger campers in their House colors. This will allow for new group dynamics and fresh perspectives. Bible Study Groups are divided by age to allow for a more developmentally specific learning environment. Campers should bring a Bible with them to camp—any translation is fine. Our staff will use the Common English Bible (CEB) in Bible Study and Worship. We will have a few extra Bibles available in each Bible Study Group.

Adult Meeting & Devotion
While the students are in small group Bible study, we invite all the adult chaperones to a time of brief announcements, a break to check in back home, and then a brief, but focused time of Adult Devotion. We ask that you encourage all of your chaperones to attend this time each day so that they can be more connected to the camp experience as this time will inform you of what your students will learn in Bible Study. The adult time will start with important announcements followed by a coffee break that we call the Daily Grind. During this time, you will have a chance to interact with the PASSPORTkids Program Staffers who will all be gathered to meet you and answer your questions and address your concerns. After this break, a PASSPORTkids Staffer will lead the Adult Devotion Time with room for discussion and prayer. While camp is designed for children, this is one way we honor your chaperones, by providing a chance for personal, spiritual reflection that can have profound energizing results for your adults.

Worship
Worship includes a variety of age-appropriate, creative, and multi-sensory elements ranging in style from liturgical to celebrative. Campers will be led at varying times to move interpretively to music and to observe moments of stillness. Reflecting on the theme and Bible verse for each day, worship will help integrate the camper’s experiences have had throughout the day. While the brief sermon each evening will challenge campers to take action as followers of Jesus Christ, the utmost care will be practiced to avoid manipulating or coercing any child. Our purpose and prayer is to provide a truly meaningful worship experience that will lead your campers to respond in appropriate ways (see Worship Response below). We will be looking for help from the campers in several areas: processionals, prayers, scripture readings, dance, and worship art. All campers participating in Worship leadership gather for a Worship Preparation meeting 30 minutes prior to Worship.

Nightly Party
Each Night at PASSPORTkids there will be a different party. The Rec Party and our annual Variety Show have one goal: to have FUN! At PASSPORTkids only, the Night Market is a special hands-on experience, where campers learn more about our Mission Offering. Learn more about camp parties soon.

Morning Devotion
Each camper receives a passport during Opening Celebration that includes a daily Morning Devotion. The devotion helps campers learn the value of spending personal time in prayer with God every day and starts them thinking about the day’s theme. Right after breakfast each day, the Group Leader will supervise your campers as they work on their devotions independently. We recommend that you do this in the same place you choose for your Worship Response time (see above).

Rotations
Before and after lunch on Day 2 & 3, campers will have a time to choose between two morning and afternoon activities. At the beginning of each Rotations time, everyone reports to the Camp Checkpoint. Activities include such things as basketball, soccer, dance, crafts, outdoor games, worship arts, and more. In addition, every camper will participate in a mission education rotation led by Bible Study Leaders.

Free Time
This year, PASSPORTkids will have a structured rotation-based Free Time that includes: rest time, the Camp Store, swimming at the pool, and a Kickball Tournament (only on Day 3)!

Church Group Devotions – Group Leaders will lead their campers in a guided Church Group Devotion each night. The devotion time has a threefold purpose:

  • To allow Group Leaders to help campers debrief and interpret what they have experienced during the day.
  • To place the campers in a familiar, safe context for individually and collectively asking questions, considering choices, and making decisions.
  • To empower Group Leaders in the long-term relationship you will have with your campers as they grow as followers of Jesus Christ.

This spring, we will send Group Leaders the Church Group Devotion Guide. Group Leaders may use the guide as a springboard to facilitate conversations with their campers. We want Group Leaders to use their creative instincts and the leading of the Holy Spirit to guide them as they lead these deviation times. Group Leaders will get to choose a conducive area to do their Church Group Devotions.
