Development Foundation Board Committee Preference

Events Committee: Signature events are a critical part of the stewardship and donor relations philosophy of the Montreat Office of Development. This committee will be an important partner for staff to both plan and analyze gatherings such as the Patrons Celebration, Gateway Society Reception, and Firefly Dinner, among others. Members of this committee are not necessarily expected to be the “day-of” leadership for these gatherings but will be long-term collaborators in continuing to improve the quality and meaning-making of stewardship events.

Legacy Giving Committee: Legacy giving, also known as planned giving or estate giving, is a significant source of funding for many of the conference center’s endowments, as well as capital and other restricted needs. The principal responsibilities of the Legacy Committee will be to oversee the identification, cultivation, and involvement of potential legacy donors to Montreat. In partnership with staff, tasks may include reviewing prospect lists, identifying unknown potential legacy donors, reviewing document content, or just taking time to learn and be conversant in Montreat’s legacy and endowment procedures.

The Montreat Fund Committee: The Montreat Fund committee will partner with staff to find ways to solicit new Montreat Fund donors, reacquire lapsed MF donors, as well as steward relationships with current MF donors. The committee will help build the Patrons program's donor experience, which will in turn build the Montreat Fund total. Meeting tasks might include things like brainstorming a solicitation for an acquisition group, writing thank you notes to MF donors who have made increases in the past year, or paying attention to the fundraising materials you receive in your own lives and sharing a brochure or email you found very effective.
