Every summer, thousands of young people travel to Montreat, NC and Maryville, TN to experience worship, recreation, music, and meaningful connection during Montreat Youth Conference and Montreat Middle School Conference. What many participants don’t know is that these events have been years in the making, directed by passionate groups of volunteers serving on conference Planning Teams. Montreat Youth Conference and Montreat Middle School Conference would not be possible without them! Planning Teams are made up of youth and adults who work together to shape nearly every aspect of the conference including selecting the theme and designing worship services, recreation events, keynote experiences, and small group activities. Worship & Music Conference is for Youth, Too!
When people think about Worship & Music Conference, they often picture handbells, adult choirs, and organ recitals. And while those elements are certainly an important part of the experience, there’s another part of the conference that also deserves some attention: the youth programming. Children and youth who have completed third through twelfth grade are eligible to sign up for a variety of offerings during the conference developed specifically with their age and experience in mind. When they attend, they are considered full, active participants and join the entire community in learning new skills, sharing their talents, and making new friends.
