Welcome to the planning hub for events and retreats at Montreat Conference Center! We’re delighted you’re considering us for your gathering. Our beautiful space allows you to explore, renew, and connect with your faith and community in a sacred setting. 

We host a variety of groups from mid-August to mid-May, ranging from small gatherings to larger events, with meeting spaces designed to accommodate all sizes and needs. We also offer comfortable lodging options, including hotel-style accommodations with meals and lodge-style options featuring communal spaces and home-cooked meals. 

Gathering Spaces

With 40 meeting rooms and spaces, Montreat Conference Center offers flexible setups with a variety of amenities and technological capabilities. We offer typical meeting rooms, which can be set up as classrooms, board rooms, or even theater style. We also are home to several specialty spaces, like a craft center and childcare building.

Guest Lodging

We offer a variety of sizes and types of accommodations so you can choose a space that fits your group needs. Our most popular space is the hotel-style Assembly Inn. Additionally we have ten lodges, which offer groups fewer amenities but more flexibility.

Dining Options

While many of our lodges boast full kitchens, our guests often opt for the buffet-style meal options provided by the Galax Dining Room in Assembly Inn. The Galax Dining Room prepares meals fresh, using quality, often locally sourced, ingredients.

In addition to traditional meals, our kitchen can prepare snack and beverage breaks to be available in or near your meeting room(s), regardless of whether you’ve chosen to eat in the Dining Room.

Are you wanting more casual food options or coffee? The Huckleberry Cafe — located off Lake Susan — serves fresh coffee, breakfast, and lunch five days a week.

As mentioned, we provide meeting space and lodging for a variety of groups and situations. We understand that no two groups are alike, which is why we offer a range of package types to suit your specific needs: Complete Package, Lodging Package, Day-Use Package, and Special Event Package. This variety enables you to select the option that best suits your group’s needs.

Complete Package

We are happy to help you prepare for your retreat or event. Retreat Groups are, typically, church groups gathering for fellowship and worship. However, we have also hosted various types of groups, including association board meetings, meditation and yoga groups, and couples retreats, to name a few. Groups choosing the complete package require the most help from Montreat staff and plan to: 

  • Book at least ten guest rooms in the Assembly Inn or an entire lodge for a weekend (Friday–Sunday) or weekday (Monday–Friday). 
  • Book for a minimum of two nights for: 
    • A weekend (Friday–Sunday) 
    • A weekday (Monday–Friday) 
  • Eat at least three meals in the dining room (if you are staying at Assembly Inn or Winsborough). 
  • Groups in other housing plan to cook their meals. 
  • Will use at least one meeting space during your stay. 

Lodging Package

The lodging package is for groups that wish to stay together but don’t require all the amenities that Montreat has to offer. These groups are typically small to medium-sized and enjoy feeling connected to one another by staying in a lodge, sharing meals they have prepared themselves, and gathering for fellowship around the lodge. Groups choosing the lodging package require little to no help from Montreat staff and plan to: 

  • Book a lodge for a minimum of two nights for: 
    • A weekend (Friday–Sunday) 
    • A weekday (Monday–Friday) 
  • Cook their meals in their lodge. 
  • Share bedrooms, bathrooms, and gathering spaces. 
  • Use the communal space inside the lodge for your gathering. 

Day-use Package

The day-use package is ideal for groups that require only a meeting space to host their event. Montreat has over 40 meeting rooms and spaces ranging in occupancy from 20 or fewer to 1250. We set up the room and make basic audio-visual equipment available for your use. We offer refreshment breaks conveniently delivered to your meeting space. Day Use groups:  

  • Plan to hold a meeting lasting one or more days. 
  • Plan not to use our lodging. 
  • Plan to have refreshment breaks and possibly eat lunch in the Dining Room.
