How Do We Treat Our Neighbors?

One of the most prominent Presbyterian “celebrities” has to be Fred Rogers. Popularly known as Mr. Rogers, it is hard to think about him without humming the line “Won’t you be my neighbor?” In fact, the major theme in Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood was learning to get along with those around you regardless of how they were different. At the beginning of each episode Mr. Rogers invited the audience into his home to learn new things and more about those that lived in his neighborhood. The 2015 Montreat Institute for Church Leadership was titled “Neighbor.” The goal of this event was to explore how we, as …

A few months ago my family attended the annual Montreat’s Institute for Church Leadership conference. This year it was entitled, More Than None: Engaging the …

It’s hard to put into words everything that Montreat has meant to me over the past four years. Most of my time in high school has involved Montreat in one way or another and I can’t imagine who I’d be without it. Anyone who has been there will tell you that it’s a “thin place:” a place where heaven and earth are just a little bit closer together. That much was obvious to me the instant …

What information might be helpful for folks as they come through the ‘gate’- whether it is the first time or the thirtieth. During a recent visit to Bellevue Presbyterian Church …
